Who We Are
- A Jewish student organization that provides an exciting variety of social, educational, and cultural programming for students.
- A home where all Jews are welcome, regardless of background or affiliation.
- A place to socialize in a comfortable, home-like setting with great friends, great food, and great discussion.
- A source of caring support from professional and sensitive rabbinical mentors.
- A partnership between students and staff, providing valuable leadership opportunities for students to create fun, vibrant programs.
Chabad House on Campus, servicing all Pittsburgh area universities, was established in 1988 by Directors Rabbi Shmuel and Sara Weinstein. Rabbi Shua and Shoshana Hoexter joined the staff as Program directors in the Fall of 2003. Chabad House is affiliated with a central organization that has branches across the globe.
Chabad House offers a wide variety of regular programs: from holiday celebrations to concerts, Shabbat meals to hands-on workshops, social action to learning programs. On a larger scale, Chabad House coordinates Shabbat 1000, the 9/11 Mitzvah Marathon, and other campus-wide events.
We welcome your participation and hope to meet you soon. So come on by to “the warmest place away from home,” and make our home, your home!

Welcome BBQ...Rosh Hashana (all FREE)!
Chabad House Email Update: Aug 31, 2010Welcome everyone, we hope the first few days of classes are going great. It was very nice to meet lots of new people so far, and for those of you receiving this email for the first time, welcome to our campus community! We'd love to see you again soon.
Tomorrow is our big Welcome BBQ (info below), Sushi-making for freshmen is Thursday (FREE & right on campus), and this Friday-Saturday is Welcome Shabbat. You are personally invited to check out the Chabad House, meet new people, and enjoy a delicious home-made dinner. If you have plans for dinner, feel free to stop by the Chabad House later in the evening for a special dessert buffet welcoming the new freshmen. Our only rules are: come when you can, leave when you want, and make sure to feel at home while you're here.
Finally, with Rosh Hashana coming up next week, we have two important things to let you know:
1) You are personally invited to join us. All of our meals and services are FREE and open to students, and within walking distance from campus! Friends are invited along too, we want all Jewish students to have a place for the holidays.
2) Please RSVP today on our website (www.chabadpgh.org), full schedule (locations, meal times) is up there too. Even though we welcome last minute RSVP's, your advance notice will help us best prepare.
Have a great rest of the week!
Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi
